5- Minute Makeup Strategy for Your Next Zoom Meeting

Working from home has both its pros and its cons. If you’re like me, the pandemic is the reason I’ve been working from home for the last 8 months and as fortunate as I am to still be gainfully employed, it has definitely taken some getting use to. Nevertheless, working from home eliminates traffic issues and limited parking spaces. Honestly, you could just roll out of bed, shower, stay in your pajamas, and start your day. However, there are some circumstances that require you to put in a little more effort such as Zoom meetings.

At my job, we have Webex meetings every Wednesday at 11:30am. For the most part I try my best to get fully dressed and elevate my look subtly as it helps me to be more productive. I’ll be breaking down some of my easiest tips to achieve a subtle glow ahead of your next zoom meeting.

1. Skincare Routine

Whether you are applying make-up or not Skin care is essential when you are starting out any look. After you wash your face with your favorite cleanser apply your favorite hydrating moisturizer. Hydrating moisturizers add luminosity to the skin or you can do like me and add a Vitamin C Serum on top of any moisturizer of your choice for a more brightened look.

2. Concealer

Use your fingers to quickly pat concealer on under your eyes, on the bridge of your nose, and on the corner of your eyes to make you look more awake and to hide any unwanted bags or dark circles under your eyes.

3. Mascara

Mascara is a non-negotiable part of my look awake routine. Mascara adds definition to your eyes and will make them appear brighter on camera.

4. Eyebrows

Think about how you feel when you get your eyebrows freshly waxed or threaded. That alone helps you to elevate your look. However, if you have time, lightly fill in any sparse areas in your eyebrows with one of your favorite eyebrow pencils or brow powders, brush them to lay them evenly and finish them off with some eyebrow gel if time permits to keep them in place even after your meeting.

5. Face Powder

Webcams tend to add shine in the center of the face and flatten the rest of the face, so you want to get rid of the shine where you don’t want it and add it back to the areas you do.

6. Add Blush or Highlight on the Cheeks

Blush can go a long way to making you look more alive in video calls! Add a little extra than normal, as webcams often dull color. Then, brush or tap (depending on the formula) a highlighter on the top of the cheekbones. Keep the highlighter away from the center of the face to not add extra shine. Go for a cream blush (and bronzer!) if your skin is looking dull or dry from all the time inside.

7. Lip line and Gloss or lip-Stain

To finish off your natural look, add a subtle pop of sheen or color with a lip gloss or lip stain of your liking.  You can also line your lips with a neutral-colored lip liner and apply a gloss (this can also work with your lip stain).

I hope that these tips truly help you with elevating your look. These are steps that I take for an everyday look with ease. Remember, you can elevate your look without spending hours in the bathroom and you’ll make it just in time for that Zoom meeting.
