The BFF Workout: Getting Fit with a Friend

Your workouts might be everything when you hit the gym and give it all you’ve got, but they could be so much more with a friend exercising with you.  Maximize your motivation and your results by simply having a workout partner.  I don’t know about you, but that sounds like a win-win situation.  The encouragement from your girlfriend is the best motivation there is.  Not to mention the built in girl time away from the kids. If you’re ready to amplify your work-outs as well as maximize them, get your BFF out there with you and get ten times the results in comparison to working out alone.

One of the major reasons I encourage you to find a workout partner is for accountability. Changing your lifestyle  is not an easy task and developing healthy habits takes time. You will need to be motivated to exercise regularly, but you will also have to change the way you eat. This can be difficult if there’s no one around to hold you accountable and help you stay on track. A friend would do just that. You two can share recipes and plan weekly workouts. Sometimes it’s easy to just skip the gym, but if you plan a workout with a girlfriend you are more likely to stick to the plans you’ve made.

Working out with a friend is so beneficial. You’ve got someone there to encourage you and push you when you feel like giving up. A fun warm up is speed walking that leads into jogging.

A little friendly competition can add to the level of motivation. With this type of motivation your energy level spikes up and your confidence gets a boost. Remember go at your own pace and have fun!

Here are some tips:

  1. Create a workout playlist with songs that you both enjoy.
  2. Stretch together.
  3. Assist each other by leaning on and relying on each another.
  4. Be each others cheerleader.

Here’s a good workout to try with your BFF:

  1. 25 Jumping Jacks
  2. 25 Squats (add weights for higher impact)
  3. 25 Mountain Climbers
  4. 30 Lunges(15 on each leg ; add weights for higher impact))
  5. 10 Burpees
  6. 1 minute Wall Sit
  7. Repeat 3x

Get healthy and get in shape together! Moms get together for playdates, birthday parties and other activities centered around the kids, it’s important that we get together to take care of us! Being healthy is an important part of our journey as mothers. By doing so, we create a healthy lifestyle for ourselves as well as our families.
